Viking Error Codes — What Your Appliance Is Telling You

Viking appliances report faults two ways: F-codes on oven and range displays, and text or icon messages on refrigeration and dishwashers. Below is what we see most on Sacramento service calls, what each one means, and what’s safe to try yourself. Codes vary by series and generation — on-site we confirm every code against the model’s tech sheet before quoting.

Oven & range F-codes

F1	Temperature sensor circuit fault / runaway temperature	One power cycle; note when it appears
F2	Oven over-temperature protection triggered	Let it cool; don’t re-run self-clean
F3	Sensor circuit open	No — sensor and wiring test
F4	Sensor circuit shorted	No — sensor and wiring test
F5	Control board relay / supervision fault	No — board-level diagnosis

Refrigeration & dishwasher messages

Viking built-in refrigeration and dishwashers more often show text or icon messages than F-codes: temperature alarms after power events, ice and water icons, door-ajar indicators, drain and leak messages. A photo of the display texted to (916) 641-1810 is usually enough for us to tell you whether it’s urgent — and to arrive with the right part if it is.

One rule for all codes: a code is the appliance protecting itself. Repeatedly power-cycling to “clear” a code you don’t understand turns small repairs into big ones.
